Christian Hartnett has been promoted to Vice President of Practice Technologies. In this role, Christian will oversee and expand our centralized geospatial, UAV/drone, remote sensing, satellite, and field data collection products and services.
Originally from the Washington, DC area, Christian moved to Austin to study archaeology and classics at the University of Texas and later earned a master’s degree in GIS and spatial analysis in archaeology from University College London.
After graduate school, Christian worked as an archaeologist for several small environmental consulting companies in Central Texas before joining SWCA in 2008. In 2012, he transitioned to GIS, supporting Texas and the Central-East GIS programs, and was named Director of Practice Technology in 2021. He has also been an adjunct professor of GIS at Austin Community College since 2016.
Christian holds a postgraduate certificate in GIS from Texas State University and an MBA from Louisiana State University, Shreveport. He is a Certified GIS Professional and Registered Professional Archaeologist.
