Christian Hartnett is SWCA’s Vice President of Practice Technologies. In this role, Christian is responsible for overseeing and expanding our centralized geospatial, UAV/Drone, remote sensing, satellite and field data collection products and services. Christian also oversees the Data Acquisition/UAV team, including remote sensing and satellite data.
Christian joined SWCA in 2008 as an archaeologist for the Austin office. As a native of the Washington, DC area, he moved to Austin to study archaeology and classics at the University of Texas then attended the University College London for his master’s degree in GIS and spatial analysis in archaeology. After grad school he started working as an archaeologist for several small environmental consulting companies in Central Texas, before starting at SWCA in 2008. In 2012, he moved over to GIS and supported Texas and the Central-East GIS programs before being named Director of Practice Technology in 2021.
Christian has a postgraduate certificate in GIS from Texas State University and an MBA from Louisiana State University, Shreveport. He is also a Certified GIS Professional and Registered Professional Archaeologist.
