Lavaca River Ranch Wetland Mitigation Area
Jackson County, Texas





Overview:
SWCA was contracted by the Goldston-Mayfield Corporation to design and implement a wetland and habitat mitigation area on 1,000 acres of the oil company’s property in Jackson County, Texas.


Services Provided:

  • Mapped wetlands and existing habitats
  • Created a wetland mitigation area
  • Prepared documentation describing the types of mitigation credits available
  • Marketed credits to permit applicants in various environmental regulatory programs
  • Negotiated the conservation easement, a document that protects the land in perpetuity, with the Legacy Land Trust

Results:
SWCA met with representatives from the various resource agencies and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offices in the Galveston District to determine the most effective means of marketing mitigation credits to potential private users. Marketing efforts are currently underway.
