
Jun. 5, 2007 -- Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne and National Park Service Director Mary Bomar recently unveiled a report that outlines plans for celebrating the 100th anniversary of National Parks on August 25, 2016. The report, titled "The Future of America's National Parks," includes plans such as: improving priority facilities, reducing the environmental impacts of park operations, enrolling new Junior Rangers, improving natural resources, and restoring native habitats by controlling invasive species and reintroducing key plant and animal species. Beginning in August of this year, Kempthorne will report annually on the progress of the goals and future actions to be taken for each of the 391 national park sites.
